Listen to What Our Pet Owners Have to Say About Us

If you have a story that you would like to send in about the care you and your pet received at Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital, please email to: tendercareanimalhospital@live.com and address it to “attention Dr. Bob”

We had two Dachshunds, Scooter and Susi when we came to this area. They were healthy little pets. However, shortly after Scooter was diagnosed with diabetes and had to be given insulin on a daily basis. One Friday, Scooter’s health took a turn for the worse. In an effort to improve her condition, our doctor took Scooter to her home to ensure she was well taken care of. Susie, our other dachshund had developed a tumor in her brain and eventually passed away in September 2006. Although, our two dear pets are gone, we feel fortunate to have met the doctors and staff at Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital. Without exception, all of them were very supportive and helpful in taking care of our pets. We are grateful for all the help they gave us in our hour of need.

I would highly recommend Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital to anyone. Recently, my dog, Pixie, became very ill. I took her to Gentle Doctor and they diagnosed her with pancreatitis. Since she was not improving after a few days in intensive care, the doctor recommended an ultrasound, which showed she had a 3 inch abscess in her pancreas. The doctor recommended I go to a specialist as this was a very difficult surgery with only a 50% chance of surviving. Unfortunately, I did not have the money to go to the specialists so the doctor at Gentle Doctor offered to perform the surgery at half off since my only other option was to put Pixie to sleep. Fortunately, surgery went well and Pixie made a full recovery! There is no way Pixie would be alive today if it weren’t for the care I received at Gentle Doctor. I will always be grateful.

We could not have been more pleased with how quickly everyone jumped into action as we entered the door. Mini was taken immediately to see a doctor. We did not sit and wait with her even one minute! My husband and I went running in the doors at 5:55 pm on Friday, August 13th, five minutes before closing time, and everyone started moving very quickly to help us. Every person was so kind to us, and no one said to us we were not a patient or tried to turn us away. Everyone that we dealt with that evening was so kind and willing to stay late to help our little Mini. Her eye had popped out and the doctor was hoping he could save it. I am happy to report that her stitches came out today, and her eye looks great and she appears to be able to see out of it! If it weren’t for them, our little baby might not have made it. I have told Mini’s story many times in the last two weeks. I have bragged about the care we received that evening and would recommend Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a loving, caring facility for their pet.

Everyone is always very helpful, friendly. I only wish that my doctor’s office would treat me the way that Samantha and I are treated. You’re the best. Thanks again for the care that you provide.

We were having our puppy treated at another veterinary clinic for 2 weeks for pneumonia and he was not improving. We were sure he was not going to survive! We took the puppy to Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital for a second opinion. After much reluctance on our part due to the poor prognosis from the other veterinary clinic, we agreed to have the doctors at Gentle Doctor attempt treatment. Within 24 hours our puppy was greatly improved and after a few days of treatment he was 100% improved. We were elated, not to mention the gratitude of our boxer puppy.

After getting our bundle of joy named Skittles, we started taking her to Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital. We love all of the doctors and staff…Everyone there makes the time to answer all of our many questions and concerns. The staff is very compassionate and understanding. They treat us like family. So, Skittles gets more than great care—she gets superb care.”

Joan Hunt – Florissant, MO

The doctors and staff have been taking care of my four legged kids since 1998. I prefer to drive the 30 miles from my home to Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital, rather than going to any of the vet clinics close to my home. Nothing but the best for my kids!”

Lisa Kaliski – Florissant, MO

We have been going to Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital for many years. They are so compassionate. When Min had a kidney stone removed, our doctor called to see how she was doing. When she visits, we know she is being well taken care of and spoiled!”

I do not know what we would do without them (Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital). They donate their time to treat hundreds of injured and sick dogs and cats every year that would otherwise have to be euthanized. I do not know of any other animal hospital that is as dedicated to saving homeless pets as they are. We tell everyone we know to take their pets there out of gratitude for everything they do to help the animals.”

My wife is in an electric cart and the receptionist actually came out on her own to ask if she could help us in. She took our dogs leash and walked with him while we entered the hospital. How great the staff is at Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital is really beyond words!

Thomas Walgrens – St. Charles, MO

Everything is great. My puppy, while in the hospital was being very well taken care of.They let us go visit her whenever we wanted to and were ALWAYS extremely friendly and welcoming!

Jeff Bell – O’Fallon, MO

Everyone was very professional when taking care of our newest addition, Kanki, and the passing of our dog, Pete. The staff was so sincere in both cases, and it is very appreciated and helped me out a lot. Thank you for such great service.”

Christine & Warren Davis – O’Fallon, MO

All of the staff I encountered were extremely helpful. Dr. Melissa gave my new pet a more thorough exam than any other of my pets have had in the past at other clinics.”

(The doctor) was at his absolute best with Maggie at the end of her life in April of this year. She had suddenly lost the ability to stand on her back legs, combined with some other symptoms that led him to the conclusion that it was a neurological problem – possibly a brain tumor, stroke, or something similar. He explained the treatment options: an MRI at a specialist’s clinic could reveal the source, although brain surgery on a 13-year-old dog would probably not be successful. He administered cortisone intravenously to reduce brain swelling, but there was no significant or sustained improvement. He even took her home with him over the weekend so he could keep an eye on her and she could enjoy some fresh air outside! When we made the final decision to euthanize her, he was extremely supportive and never made us feel we were making the wrong decision. We will never forget his kindness at that time.

Susan Schuepfer – O’Fallon, MO

Everyone that my wife and I have dealt with at Gentle Doctor has been much better than either of us could have ever expected! We only hope that when we have kids, that we can find a doctor’s office that takes as much interest and care of our child as Gentle Doctor has taken of our dog, Huckleberry! Thanks for everything!

James Fortner – St. Charles, MO

Loved every minute! No really, not only is the staff professional and courteous, theprices are outstandingly reasonable. I love this vet!

Martha H. – Ballwin, MO

The reception staff is always very friendly and shows lots of love and interest in Cuddles…and of course, I think everyone should do that! I’ve come several years now and the staff and treatment of my dogs has always been consistently outstanding! It is a pleasure coming to see everyone there.

Debbie R. – Hazelwood, MO

Everyone is always so nice and friendly. The receptionists, techs, and doctors are all wonderful. They know our dog and are very good with him. He always gets very excited whenever we come for a visit! That makes us feel good that he enjoys it, even when he has to get blood draws or immunizations. He also loves the treats! Thanks so much!

Ryan Salesman – O’Fallon, MO

Our Vet was wonderful and especially caring towards not only my pup, but also my kiddos. The kids always want to go to the office if Harley has to go in because they want to see her. She is the best!!!!

Christina Ferguson – St. Peters, MO

Nikki my elderly Labrador Retriever had not been eating much few a few days and yet seemed to be bloated. I took her into see one of the doctors. After thoroughly examining Nikki, the doctor recommended x-rays of her abdomen. The results were not good. The doctor took the time to explain about her condition, what to look for and what our options were, the doctor answered all our questions and addressed all our concerns. The doctor was very supportive. Although her prognosis was poor we knew when it was the right time to end her suffering, because the doctor had given us the information we needed to make the right choice for our pet. I was very grateful for the compassion the doctor showed in dealing with my terminally ill pet.”

When I was about 4 months of age, I was brought in to Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital after being attacked by a large animal. The only thing I remember is that I couldn’t walk. I was in so much pain. I later learned my belly muscles were ripped open and I had to be treated for shock with “intra-geneus fluids”… whatever that is… I guess it’s because they think I am a genius. Anyways, my hind legs would not work. The kind doctors at Gentle Doctor felt sorry for me and decided to try to fix me. I had to have my muscles repaired, so the doctors did surgery on me. When I woke up from surgery, everyone was smiling at me. At that point, I knew that the surgery was a success! Since my previous owners never came to claim me, I did not know where I was going to go. But then I got the best news of them all… the kind people at Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital said they would let me live there! It’s like the people at Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital are my “guardian angels.” When I was well enough to walk around the hospital, I was a little bit scared. I was afraid of big dogs; they really scared me. So, I would go hide in the back of the hospital. Now, I know they aren’t going to hurt me, so I hang around the front desk greeting everyone that comes in. I even try to sneak in to the exam rooms to socialize with our guests. I can be a little mischievous at times, and if I don’t get enough attention, I will swat a pen off the counter to get your attention. Since I was not able to pay my hospital bill, I decided to become the official greeter to pay them back for all they did for me. Anyways, this is a great place for pets… of course, it got a little greater since I’ve been here!

I arrived at Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital when my previous owner brought me in with a broken leg and I had 3 kittens to care for. I was scared… I did not know anyone, and there were a lot of big animals that I had never seen before called “dogs”. I remember my owner saying something about “not enough money” and “may have to put me to sleep”. Now, I don’t know why they would want me to go to sleep… I wasn’t even tired! Anyways, the kind doctors and staff at Gentle Doctor seemed to understand what I was thinking. They have a way with animals… kind of like Dr. Doolittle. They fixed my broken leg and helped me take care of my kittens. Eventually, I learned that most of the animals that came in to the hospital were friendly. And their owners were very nice to me. I began to make a lot of new friends. My previous owners didn’t really like me, so when I was well the staff at Gentle Doctor asked me to stay and live at the animal hospital. They say sometimes opportunity will come to you when you least expect it. Well, the “Kitty Gods” must have been watching over me! I am just glad the kind people at Gentle Doctor gave me a chance. I love sleeping in the basket of treats at the front counter because everyone likes to pet me when I sleep there. And, I don’t mean to brag, but as you can see from my picture, I am a very attractive cat!
